Welcome To

Golden

Friendly and inviting city with deep pride in its Western roots.

Welcome to Golden

Located only 12 miles west of Denver, Golden is surrounded by high points. North and South Table Mountains to the east, the foothills—dominated by Mount Zion and Lookout Mountain—to the west, and Clear Creek cuts directly through the town. The natural landscape has helped the city maintain its old-time charm and history.

Once the capital of Colorado, Golden was founded in 1859 by Thomas L. Golden—a prospector during the Pikes Peak Gold Rush. It became a prime spot for miners and settlers new to the area. Today, the town still holds its Western roots as displayed in the many history museums and historic buildings.

Housing styles in Golden range from ranch and traditional-style homes to luxury mountain-modern. With houses ranging from single-family homes starting at $79,000 to $8 million estates, there’s something here for everyone. The median home price is $722,000.

With a strong focus on walkability, renewable energy, and sustainability, residents tend to be forward thinkers. Golden is a great place for established professionals to raise a family.
